Questions about this product
Yes. It is 24-karat food-grade gold leaf, 99.9% pure. Gold is biologically inert, so it passes through the body without being absorbed. It is also tasteless and odourless, so it changes how the bar looks and nothing about how it tastes.
Less for the gold itself than for the hand work. Leaf is thinner than a human hair and sticks to the oils on your skin, so each bar has to be gilded individually with tweezers, wearing gloves. That labour is the cost.
